CHICAGO: PEACEMAKER CONGRESS--HAVE YOU REGISTERED?
It is time for Christian activists interested in fellowship, fun, wholesome
food and Getting in the Way, to register for Christian Peacemaker Congress
VI, which will meet near North Manchester, Indiana on September 20-23,
2001. Centered around the theme, "Sustainable Peacemaking: Building
Connections for Change," the Congress will gather people from across North
America to connect with one another and gain energy for this type of
peacemaking.
Christian Peacemaker Teams and New Call to Peacemaking/Every Church A Peace
Church plan the Peacemaker Congresses. There are more than 30 co-sponsoring
organizations and programs, many of which will be represented by people and
displays.
Reports on CPT work in the Middle East, Colombia, New Brunswick and Chiapas
will be given by CPTers from those regions. Keynote speakers are Dianne
Roe, C. T. Vivian and David Waas. Vivian, a veteran African American civil
rights activist will issue the call for every church to be a peace church.
Joyfield Farm, where the Congress was held 3 years ago, is not a typical
conference site, given the tents, barns and local homes it provides for
lodging for lodging, and the largely vegetarian diet it supplies from food
grown on the organic vegetable farm. Also not typical is the registration
fee: $90 per person covering everything ($25 for students).
Phone(312) 455-1199 to register.
