Curfew was lifted for the second day of 'Eid al Adha (Feast of the
Sacrifice.)
Dianne Roe went to Beit Ummar to celebrate the 'Eid with families
there. She visited the family whose home had been shot up the night before
(See March 15 release, "Mistake after Mistake after Mistake.") She then
went to the home of a man whom soldiers had beaten a month earlier after
they threatened to demolish his house. The man's wife spoke with compassion
regarding soldiers and said that she tries to keep children from throwing
stones at them.
Sunday, February 24
Kathleen Kern came upon a mother and her two children whom soldiers were
not permitting to pass through the Beit Romano checkpoint because of the
curfew. Kern explained that it was customary for people to be out visiting
during the 'Eid and that the curfew may have been imposed while the woman
and her children were out. The soldier told Kern that allowing people to
walk into the market was against the rules.
Kern responded, "But the rules are immoral."
