CHICAGO: CPTers continue to bear witness to the bloodshed caused by
Boeing's weapons
On Friday, June 20, in an early morning hearing, a judge in Cook County
circuit court granted CPTers Jessica Phillips, Char Smith, and Mary Yoder a
jury trial. The state is charging the CPTers with dumping red food coloring
(used for making popsicle) into the Chicago River. The trial is set for
Friday, September 27, 2002 at 9:00 am at 1340 S. Michigan Ave.
In July, CPTers prayed for peace in front of Boeing Headquarters, which is
located along the Chicago River. As part of the peace liturgy, CPTers dyed
the river red in front of the Boeing building to symbolize the bloodshed
that Boeing's weapons cause around the world.
Boeing is the second largest weapons producer in the United States. CPTers
serving on the Hebron team have witnessed Boeing-made Apache helicopters
firing on houses and then later heard that the attacks had killed children.
CPT invites Boeing to do its part in ending the deaths of innocent
civilians by ending the production and sale of weapons.
Those planning to attend Friday's trial are urged to contact CPT's Chicago
office for details on related events. Contact information is available in
the tagline.
