CHICAGO/TORONTO: CPT announces delegation to Iraq June 7-21, 2003

Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) is recruiting peacemakers to travel to
Iraq, June 7-21, 2003. Delegates will assess war damage, listen to the
Iraqi people, and learn about the nature of the U.S. occupation of Iraq.
They will stay in Baghdad or other cities and visit facilities such as
hospitals, schools, churches, and markets. Delegates will also meet with
representatives of governmental and non-governmental agencies, including the
U.S. military. A nonviolent public witness will be planned as appropriate.

Participants accept the risks to personal safety and
uncertainties of travel inherent in being present in a conflict zone. Cost
of the delegation is $2000 US, which includes round-trip airfare to Amman,
Jordan, simple accommodations, two meals a day, all on-ground travel, and
other delegation support.

CPT seeks participants with interest and/or experience in human rights work,
committed to nonviolence, and willing to participate in team worship and
reflection. Delegates are invited to make plans to share about the trip upon
return to their home communities and congregations.
