ARIZONA/SONORA BORDERLANDS: CPTers memorialize fifth desert death in six weeks

CPTnet July 9, 2004 ARIZONA/SONORA BORDERLANDS: CPTers memorialize fifth
desert death in six weeks

On July 9, CPTers and volunteers with the No More Deaths movement marked the
death of 19 year-old Cesar Andres Moya Vargas from Guanajuato, Mexico, by
building a memorial cairn and planting a cross in the Arizona desert in a
remote location a few miles southeast of Tombstone, the general area where
he was found. On July 4, while many in the United States were celebrating
Independence day and affirming citizenship, Cesar lay dying in the desert.
At the time of the memorial service, Cesar's body was still unidentified and
CPTers wrote "Unknown Child of God" on the cross.

The memorial service was the fifth conducted by CPT since beginning the
Arizona project in late May. The team asks its constituents to pray for
Cesar's family.
