CHICAGO/TORONTO: Call for peacemakers to join Holy Week Borderlands
Delegation

Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) is seeking participants for a special Holy
Week delegation to the U.S./Mexico Borderlands, 10-17 April 2006. Based in
Tucson and Douglas, Arizona, delegates will monitor human rights and meet
with representatives of human rights groups, government officials, and
individuals on both sides of the border. They will confront unjust
immigration policies through a special Holy Week nonviolent public action.
Delegation members arrange their own transportation to Tucson, Arizona. Cost
excluding transportation is $400 U.S. PLEASE APPLY BY 17 MARCH.

In 2005, over two hundred men, women and children perished in Arizona,
because U.S. border policies channeled migrants into the most dangerous
areas of the desert. Migrants desperate to improve the lives of their
families are vulnerable to attacks by bandits, mistreatment by unscrupulous
guides, and harassment by anti-immigrant vigilantes. A dramatic increase in
the number of Border Patrol agents has militarized the area.

CPT is a faith-based group that seeks participants for all delegations who
are interested in human rights work, committed to nonviolence, and willing
to participate in team worship and reflection. Delegates should have plans
to share about the trip upon return to their home communities and
congregations.

On-ground travel, two meals a day, simple accommodations, and honorariums
and delegation fees are covered. For more information or to apply, contact
CPT, (PO Box 6508, Chicago, IL 60680; phone 773-277-0253; fax 773-277-0291;
