CHICAGO: Applications for CPT Chicago Office Coordinator sought

The person in this position provides coordination (glue, ground, order,
support, woof) for the work of the Christian Peacemaker Team (CPT) Chicago
office. The coordinator's work also supports CPT's violence reduction work
around the world.

Work Expectations:

Applicants for position should expect to work forty hours per week during
normal times and more during stints on team or in occasional times of high
need. The office coordinator is one of the few CPT positions that involves
working in the office from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Coordinator will
occasionally have to work weekends and evenings. Compensation is a
subsistence stipend based on need.

Responsibilities:

 Coordination of Chicago Office and Administrative Volunteers

-Recruit and support the work of office/administrative volunteers

(Note that volunteers could do many of the job responsibilities listed
below. The Office coordinator is responsible for assuring that the work is
done well. Starred items below are areas where current volunteers are
likely to continue significant support.)

Hosting/Welcoming

(Help people who contact CPT feel welcome, and grow in confidence and
understanding of CPT's work.)

-First responder to phone calls, providing friendly and informative input;
consistent message sharing and transfer of calls

- Extend welcome and hospitality to those who appear at the Chicago Office
door

- Respond to requests for information regarding delegations, personnel and
general interest, or for materials and displays

Information and Communication Systems Nurture

- Participate in CPT's Communications Team

- Database maintenance and development: add and update entries for
delegation members, donors*, mailing list*, personnel; work with other
support team members to develop database for tracking information

- Email lists/groups maintenance: Subscribe/unsubscribe addresses, monitor
accounts, monitor cptd and gitw and give relevant Support Team members and
other teams heads up when they need to be aware of items that appear in
these venues

- Organize and archive print pictures and digital images

- Maintain and coordinate office filing system

- Maintain the schedule for use of the CPT Chicago- based equipment,
display, and the conference call line

- Coordinate pick up, processing and sending of mail, respond or
forward/pass on the mail to others as appropriate (both electronic received

  Finances

- Process donations, send thank-you letters, and make deposits

- Track financial obligations of reservists and delegation members*

- Develop and monitor system for tracking delegation and reservist
"scholarships"

Maintenance of Literature and Supplies

- Help update flyers, packets, forms, handbooks

- Prepare delegation orientation packets

- Maintain on-hand supply of literature

- Maintain office supplies and storage

- Order supplies for teams. Facilitate deliveries to teams.

Bulk Mailing Coordination and Publication Support

- Manage bulk mailings (print mailing labels, organize the preparation of
mailings, coordinate and participate in mailing parties, coordinate delivery
of mailing to postal services)

- Participate in team process of editing publications (includes assisting
with the newsletter and monthly "Signpost")

- Coordinate printing with the Publications Coordinator (various brochures,
quarterly newsletters, yearly calendar/fund raising appeal, yearly
congregational appeal, "Year in Review" report)

  Other Misc. Support

- Pitch in with the work of other staff when they are overwhelmed

- Logistical and administrative support for work coordinated by others in
CPT including Peacemaker Congress, Full-Timer Retreat (each are every other
year), Training (2+ times/year)

 Participation as a member of CPT and of the CPT Support Team

- Chicago office team life: participate in weekly office meetings, share
responsibilities in the cleaning and cooking rotation, participate in and
join the rotation for leading prayers, participate in occasional evening
potlucks and team building fun--

- At least yearly spend time on project as a CPTer responding to lethal
conflict through active nonviolence

- Occasional speaking or other sharing about CPT for spreading the word
about our work and that of partners in the field, recruiting, and fund
raising

- Occasional participation in local CPT nonviolent direct action

- Participate in gathered Support Team meetings and when needed and as
desired in phone Support Team meetings

- Keep up-to-date on CPT's work

Needed Qualities, Experience, and Skill:

Christian:

- Deeply grounded in Christian faith, rooted in a worshiping community,

- Committed to the biblical and historic Christian understanding of
peacemaking

Peacemaker:

- Experienced/willing to participate in nonviolent direct action and to
travel to work in settings of lethal conflict

- Firm commitment to the practice of peacemaking

- Commitment to dismantling racism

Team member:

'Good interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, ability to listen and share
with sensitivity, tact, humor, and humility,

- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining positive interpersonal
relationships

- Trustworthy
