BETHLEHEM: Publicizing "No Way to the Inn" displays
As part of the "No Way to the Inn: Bethlehem behind the Wall" campaign, CPT
is encouraging its constituents to spread the word, by mouth and through the
media, about the separation barrier the Israeli military is constructing
throughout Palestine (for campaign details,

For press releases to local media follow the standard "Who, what, when,
where," format:
Who
Who is displaying a "No Way to the Inn: Bethlehem Behind the Wall" Nativity?
Who, in your community, is willing to make statements to the press?
What
Describe the walled-in Nativity. Describe the situation in Bethlehem and
the effects of the wall on Palestinian communities.
When
When, if at all, can the public view the walled-in Nativity? When can
reporters interview a spokesperson?
Where
Where is the walled-in Nativity located?
Why
Why has your community chosen to display a walled-in nativity? What
connections to Palestine and Palestinian issues, or CPT work, does your
community have?
After writing a press release:
1) Send release to the newsrooms of local press outlets, including
newspapers, TV and radio stations. Email address and fax numbers can be
found in newspapers or on the internet. Copy press releases to religion
section editors and to contacts and friends in the media.
2) After sending out press releases, make phone calls to media outlets.
Invite them to cover the walled-in nativity. Be prepared to resend press
releases to reporters who did not receive them.
3) Prepare for interviews and photo-ops. Consider who can do the best job
speaking with the media. Decide what you want to communicate to the press
and how best to express it. Practice answering difficult questions.
