HEBRON POEM: Identities
January 22nd, 2008
race, class, sex, age
locating ‘the self’
in the social world
the design of creation
infected by toxic ‘isms’
deadly penetrating poisons
paralyzing violence, guilt, impotence
turning love into hate
caring into greed
trust into suspicion
security into fear
extinguishing the human spirit
leaving shriveled selves
blaspheming the holy
one Creator, one creation, one love
a silken thread
stitching humanity into a single crazy quilt
embracing many selves as one
