COLOMBIA UPDATE: June 2005
During the month of June, the united community of the river Opon kept
working to build more autonomy despite the presence of the paramilitary
groups, the AUC-BCB and the AUC-MM (United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia
Central Bolivar Block and Magdalena Medio Block) and the guerrilla group the
FARC-EP (Armed Revolutionary Forces of Colombia-Army of the People). The
community participated in two civil-military days held by the Armed Forces
of Colombia and municipal institutions with the intention of sharing a
development plan. The community councils continue to work with state
institutions for the good of the community.
