CHICAGO/TORONTO: CPT Delegation to attend Depleted Uranium Conference 19 May
2007

Saturday, 19 May 2007, a CPT Depleted Uranium (DU) delegation will
participate in a conference at East Tennessee State University in Johnson
City,Tennessee. Conference registration is free, and CPT encourages other
CPT constituents to attend it.

The DU delegation would welcome the participation of military personnel,
especially those who have been in Iraq and Afghanistan, to help delegates
strategize next steps. A Camp DU tenting option is available just across
the road from Aerojet Ordnance, one of the primary manufacturers of DU
penetrator cores for the 120 mm Abrams tank shells. Saturday parking for
the conference is free on campus and various eating places are available
near Room 102 in Rogers Stout Hall, where the conference will be meeting,
next to the Sherrod Library.

The three major speakers include Major Doug Rokke, PhD, who has been the
Pentagon expert on depleted
Uranium, Cathy Garger, who has written on the issues of depleted uranium
munitions and Mohammad Daud Miraki, PhD, author of_Afghanistan After
Democracy_. Breakout groups that grapple with next steps in this
nonviolent campaign to stop the production of DU weapons will follow the
presentations.

CPT's DU Delegation will run from 18-27 May 2007. To join the delegation,
