HEBRON/AT-TUWANI: CPT Palestine Announces "The Way of the Cross in Occupied Palestine" Campaign

CPT Palestine announces "Way of the Cross in Occupied Palestine," a Lenten campaign to raise awareness of the suffering of the Palestinian people living under Israeli military occupation. Each week in Lent, CPT Palestine will provide action ideas and worship resources that parallel the themes found in the Stations of the Cross, a tool used for reflection on the suffering and death of Christ. As this reality of violence runs parallel to the suffering of Christ, the campaign encourages participating churches to engage in direct actions that highlight the violence and injustice of life under military occupation in Palestine.

As churches, communities, and families participate in this campaign, take photos of actions and send them to cptheb@palnet.com. The photos will be placed on CPT's website. In addition, CPT Palestine will create a picture folder on the CPT website with photos from Palestine containing Lenten themes as a worship resource.

To undergird this work and participate in an ancient Lenten tradition, consider fasting and praying two days a week for an end to the occupation of Palestine. Traditionally, Christian fast days were Wednesdays and Fridays, though participants are welcome to fast any day(s) of the week.

To begin this campaign, CPT Palestine invites churches to remember in their Ash Wednesday liturgies and services the sin and suffering caused by the Israeli occupation of Palestine. Remember, too, with repentance, international complicity in the continuing occupation.
