Douglas Wingeier
Douglas Wingeier, emeritus professor of practical theology, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, IL. Taught Christian education and church administration 1970-1998; associate dean for ministry programs; director, Doctor of Ministry, Continuing Education, Summer School, and Field Education. Has also taught at Trinity Theological College, Singapore; Piula Theological College, Samoa; Lutheran Theological Seminary, Hong Kong; Methodist Theological Seminary, Seoul, Korea; Bethlehem Bible College, Palestine; and Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC. Has served as study leader in United Methodist Schools of Christian Mission on the following topics: China, Southeast Asia, Central America, refugees and immigration, mission in the 21st century, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, and Mexico. Has led travel groups and work teams to China, Cuba, Nicaragua, Israel/Palestine, and the Texas-Mexico border. Publications include Keeping Holy Time; Studying the Revised Common Lectionary, Years A, B, C; Working Out Your Own Beliefs, Troublesome Bible Passages, Eight Ways to Become Christian, and numerous articles and curriculum study units. He and his wife Carol have four children and nine grandchildren. They live in Waynesville, NC, near Lake Junaluska.
