Scott Kerr

Scott Kerr is a graduate of Anderson University with a major in Political Science.  After graduating in the Summer of 1999 Kerr began work with Christian Peacemaker Teams.  Beginning in Chiapas Mexico with the Abejas, a mayan indigenous Catholic community, Kerr accompanied some members as they returned to their villages of origin after fleeing in terror after the 1997 massacre of 45 of their friends and family.  After working in Chiapas for over a year, Kerr began working in Colombia implementing a plan to accompany a threatened community.  There in Colombia the team accompanied over 70 families as they returned to their homes despite continued threats from paramilitary guerrilla violence.  After over a year in Colombia, Kerr was deported from Colombia.  After appeals and subsequent visa denials Kerr joined CPT and the Iraq Peace Teams In Baghdad to act as a peaceful witness, before, and during the current occupation.  Most recently he worked with CPT's Arizona project on the US-Mexico Borderlands on violence associated with migration issues. Currently Scott is a student at Iliff School of Theology.
