Give thanks for River Run Week in Toronto June 4–8, organized by Grassy Narrows First Nation and its partners, including CPT, highlighting the effects of mercury poisoning in their community. Pray for justice and healing for the people and land.

URGENT PRAYER FOR PEACEMAKERS

Pray with CPT for the Palestinian village of Susiya, which received demolition orders from the Israeli military on June 12. The demolition, to be completed by June 15, will destroy eighteen tents and make 160 people homeless.

Pray with CPT for the people of Al-Khalil (Hebron) who maintain their dignity though faced with humiliation from soldiers. Pray that one day there will be no more checkpoints that children and teachers must pass through on their way to school.

Give thanks with CPT for the more than fifty First Nation representatives who made a Freedom Train journey across Canada’s West opposing Enbridge corporation’s proposed tar sands pipeline through their territory. Pray that support for their efforts will continue to grow.

Pray for Palestinian prisoners on a hunger strike to protest detention without charges or trials, and other punishments. CPT members joined the fast May 15, the anniversary of the 1948 expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes.

Give thanks for the CPT Holy Week delegation to Southern Bolivar, Colombia. Pray for delegation members as they work in solidarity with communities ravaged by internal conflict with their lands coveted by armed groups for their wealth of natural resources.

Pray with CPT for continued safety from shelling for villages in Iraqi Kurdistan. The situation in Syria and Israel’s threats of military action against Iran imperil a ceasefire in that area between a Kurdish militia group and the Iranian military.

Give thanks with CPT for the recent victory of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug, a First Nations community, in protecting their traditional lands—including sacred grave sites—from mining. Pray that Ontario officials would respect the KI government as they resume talks about the lands.
